So my quasi-bros at Dodselectro just posted this EP by Canadian DJ/Producer Gooffee. And I must say it is quite good. Quite good indeed!

And as much as I hate (I HAVE STATED THIS HATE BEFORE) essentially reblogging the exact same content as a blog that I follow this EP is SUUUUPER legit.

I don’t know what to think. I absolutely love the song and the entire I Want You Mixtape. But this video looks like it’s trying too hard to be artsy, or something. I don’t know maybe I’m just not hip enough to get it.

baths: putting me into a stupor

I never am one to stay too on top of music trends but somehow I got lucky this time. I first began listening to Will Wiesenfeld’s first project [postfoetus] sometime in December and then heard that Wiesenfeld had signed to anticon. records. I was super ecstatic because I love all of anticon.’s current line up Why? being my favorite band, Josiah Wolf’s debut being probably one of the best “folk-pop” album’s I’ve every heard, and Doseone/Themselves being the most creative and innovative rappers in the business.

So naturally I began listening to baths and immediately fell in love. I somehow missed his self-titled and only had three songs playing on repeat for about five hours one day before i realized how much of an idiot I was and got the album.

Some people are classifying his music as part of the burgeoning(declining?) chillwave movement. And while it may be deserved, baths music is also heavily influenced by the emerging beat music movement stemming from his contact and recent residency with LA’s Low End Theory nightclub.

Just check out these two songs neither of which has been featured on an album

First up is Stupor probably my favorite of Wiesenfeld’s songs. And it was made on a whim especially for fans!

Deastro -Warrior of Darkness

So Deastro is pretty high up on my Last.fm. #4 in fact. He should be #3 but I never feel like simply getting rid of bands simply because I don’t listen to them anymore (re: Fall Out Boy being #7 D:) But nonetheless ever since hearing Deastro the first time about a year ago I’ve loved their music.

Of course now the band is actually a solo project of one, Randolph Chabot Jr. after his band split for various reason. But the newest stuff released by him is just as synthy, bubbly and exotic as the stuff that’s been around for ages.

I was listening to a song – Toxic Crusaders and realized that it’s about not being a burden on the environment and living in harmony with nature. Right on Chabot! Although I’m no environmentalist I think that everyone should regard nature with extreme respect. I mean until we get colony ships of this planet and in to the stars it’s the only one we have, right? Anyway have a listen to Toxic Crusaders and decide what you think about Deastro.

Now before you leave thinking that this is only a post about the wonders of hallucinogenic drugs I’m talking about the group D/R/U/G/S they make electronic music.

When I first heard Escapeship I was immediately reminded of the first time I heard Neon Indian’s Psychic Chasms album. Very synthy and bubbly!

Plus it’s new and I can’t seem to find anything else except the two singles here:

Josiah Wolf – Jet Lag

So Why? is pretty much my favorite band ever. EVER. I love the way that Yoni Wolf’s voice isn’t always in perfect pitch and how the music conveys the exact moods that the lyrics do. But this post isn’t about Why? (well not entirely) it’s about Why?’s drummer, Josiah Wolf (also Yoni’s brother).

He’s released his debut album, Jet Lag (which dropped on March 16th (CD/MP3)) brings along the same qualities as Why? but with a bit more folkiness and acoustic guitar! What’s not to like about that?

Telephoned – Off The Hook Mixtape

I normally hate music in the club. I prefer electro for clubbing and around here they just play radio rap. EW. But Telephoned comes out of nowhere mixing,remixing, and reworking some of those same songs and it sounds good. Wish there were a club round here that played this kind of music.
